It occurred to me that another possible use for HS, one that would also help newbies get more interested, would be to use them to exceed certain limits. We've talked about storage space, but easier to implement would be fees to gram or post over the daily limit. Obviously, this offers fewer benefits, the higher your patronage level is, but it could also help encourage members to consider a patronage or a higher level.
As Kallistos noted, it is hard for newcomers to develop friendships due to the gram limit; being able to pay a fee of HS25 or HS50 to send extra grams would give them a way to work around this. The same works with posts. It can be very frustrating not to be able to contribute to an interesting conversation that you know will have moved on by the time you can add to it. I'm sure that many would find it worthwhile to pay HS100 or even more to get around this.
