I totally like Alex Wyndham in the role of young Maecenas. He hasn’t appeared much, but he certainly gives a good idea of how this historical character must have been when he was young. Very sharp and sophisticated, he makes a good counter part for Agrippa.

All in all, I think that the casting of these three boys: Simon Woods (the icy blue-eyed Octavian), Allen Leech (the country boy Agrippa), and Alex Whyndham (totally ‘Maecenic’) is one of the best castings I have seen in Ancient Rome movies.

I remember that many of us, in this board, thought that Camilla Rutherford would play Scribonia. However, she turned out to be Octavia’s friend Jocasta. So maybe Scribonia will have only a small role in season two, since no actress playing her character has appeared in the “Cast & Crew” link at HBO Rome official site yet.

Attention: if you don’t like spoilers, please don’t read the following paragraph.

Gossip: I heard through the grapevine that Posca will marry Jocasta, in the episode after “Philippi”. I do hope that Octavian marries Scribonia too, sometime around then.
