One of those points I don't think is really addressed is the sources' statement that, in the first post-assassination meeting between Octavian and Antony, Octavian asked for the cash his adopted father had left him, and Antony made noises that it was tied up, it was spent, it was gone - etc.
We know that Octavian "borrowed" against his expectations to fund the first year or so of his political career, but I don't remember any source actually SAYING whether later he got Caesar's money, or if Antony had already spent a chunk of it.
Considering that Antony later apparently was suffering money problems (he could not come near matching Octavian's donatives to the legions, which is partially why the 3rd and 4th went over to Octavian), WHAT did he do with it? My guess would be that Caesar's wealth was vast! And later, did it in fact come to Octavian??
One of those details you just WISH someone had clarified!
