For this Quick Guide, the HTML code's in scarlet to make it stand out better.
Bold
Italics
Underline
Strikeout
Make text a little bigger
Or a little smaller
Subscript ~ H2O is done ~ H2O
Superscript ~ 1st is done ~ 1st
Center your text, or pictures
Font Color ~
Font Color is red. or Font Color is Red (Quotation marks around the color not absolutely necessary, but may not work on all browsers if they are missing.)
Font size ~
Font size is larger (Sizes 1-7 work best for this. The larger the number, the larger the text.)
Change the Font type face~
Times New Roman
Change Size, Color, Font face all at once ~
Large, red Times New Roman
Adding pictures ~<
Or, to add a little formatting to your picture
Aligning pictures and adding blank space around them~
(Align can ="right" or ="left", but ="center" does not work well. Hspace (blank space to left and right) and Vspace (blank space on top and bottom) ~ the higher the number, the more space. Put your code at the beginning of your text.)
Add Music~
I don't have any music files, so I can't make an example.
To simply imbed a song in your post ~ (a music player will appear that will allow people to replay or stop your music)
To imbed your song invisably and have it play indefinately
Linking to another web site~
MSN.com
or
To open a new browser window for your link so that the person does not have to hit Back to go back to your post~ MSN.com
Create a list ~
Create a list that has bullets
First Item Second Item Third Item
- First Item
- Second Item
- Third Item
Create a list that numbers automatically
First Item Second Item Third Item
- First Item
- Second Item
- Third Item
Use the command to indent your text
Regular
Intent Regular
Indent more
Tables ~
This will add a simple table to your post.
|
|
(If you use only and do not specify a bgcolor then it will be white.)
~Adding a border to your table ~
This will add a border to your table. Default border color is grey in IE.
|
|
~Add a background, set a specific width, and change the border color ~
This table has a defined width, a background and a black border.
|
|
~Stack one table inside another to make it look really fancy~
This table is stacked.
One table within another.
Looks pretty spiffy.

Marquees ~ Marquees will only work on IE - not in Netscape.
Marquee moves right to left indefinitely
Marquee moves from left toward right indefinitely
Scroll the Marquee up Up and down work best if you specify a wider width. The higher the width number, the wider the marquee will be.
Scroll the Marquee down
Marquee alternates right to left indefinitely
Marquee slides over and stops (If you took too long to get down here, it will be already be stationary - I used a small delay in the actual code to give a little more time)
Make the Marquee slower Number is milliseconds, or 1/1000th of a second. The larger the number, the slower the scrolling.
Make the Marquee faster The larger the number, the faster the scrolling.
Loop specified number of times and disappear (If you took too long to get down here, it will be already be gone)
Set a background color
Do a combination
Thanks, Calliope!
