A Fairie Vale by the River
A world of gold and silvery glitter
A city built of webs and dew
where winged fairies dance two by two
they merrily sing and play
among lost trinkets in the grass they lay
drinking goblets of fairie wine
and casting spells to pass the time
birds and beasts protect this land
as fairies keep them close at hand
the moon smiles down on their merriment
and stars wink kisses in excitement
dresses of sheer and lace
and their beauty requires no painted face
the sun comes now and darkness goes away
she always brings another day
the fairies run up into the trees
and watch from autumn's golden leaves
the sky turns grey before turning blue
and sunlight's glow wakes the river too
it rushes down the rocky path
not angry, hateful, or filled with wrath
during the light fairies hide in trees
and chat away with friendly bees
they spend their days hidden from the sun
but are still determined to have fun
for upon the days close they will again come out
to drink and sing and dance about
