Or: Should 'hoods be just synchronic or also diachronic? Must each place be unique in time and space, or might we have more than one 'hood dedicated to the same place but in different times? Some of us were talking about this and we'd like to have people's input.
Actually there are already some cases, Alexandria for example. I think that there could be even more; for example, Byzantium being in Greece and not in Rome (I think) is odd. In Germania we've tried to find a solution for the Varangian Way: I believe there should be a way to conciliate the synchronic and diachronic view to cover both the Viking and Slavic settlements.
On the other hand, as usual, it should not become extreme. For example it would be awkward to have a Gothic Ravenna and a Byzantine Ravenna, since the two civilizations were so close and tightly-tied, not to mention short-lived.
What say you? Do you know other instances of 'hoods that could benefit from different versions in different times?
