Aftenposten English has the report New Viking treasures found on a find of three Viking graves in Frøyland in Rogaland, Southwestern Norway. The graves are dating from the 9th century ( early Viking Age). In a grave belonging to a woman glass beads covered with gold (photo) and a large bronze buckle engraved with bear heads and ducks among other things were found. The two other graves were a man's grave and a child's grave. The woman's grave and the man's grave include boats about 6-7 metres. Obviously, the graves belong to a family. Earlier, many finds dating from the Viking Age have been found in Frøyland. Frøy is a Norse god and Frøya is a Norse goddess, and place names connected to Frøy/Frøya indicate places of ancient settlements. Some of the richest finds dating back to the Viking Age are discovered in Rogaland. Rogaland was called Rygjafylke in the Viking Age. Probably, the Germanic tribe of the Rugians (Lat. Rugii) was connected to Rogaland. Jordanes mentioned that Rugii still remained in Scandinavia about 550 AD. In the time of Jordanes there was a tribe of Rugii in Italy, and they have travelled a long way to come to Italy.
