Silvia, thanks for the explanation, and also for the link, although you have Caesar in hieroglyphs only... What does the rest of the cartouche stand for? I suppose the rest of the specific "Caesar"'s name? Anyway, you do think Devauchelle may be right?
I think the "authorities" which Africa speaks of are really Munzer in his Roman Aristocratic Parties and Families. He makes a very convincing case for Julia's fiance to be Marcus Brutus.
But now you've piqued my curiosity about Syme's paper! I must absolutely read it! LOL
