    Many times when reading any sort of work on Byzantium there are always some of those words that historians will transliterate such as protovestarius that can throw you for a loop, but have no fear a glossary is here! This is a list of Byzantine terms especially monastic which can be useful for reference of what is what provided courtesy of the Ministry of Culture for Greece.
