Apocalyto isn't released here in the UK til 5th Jan, but I don't think I'll be dashing to the theatre to see it - like Sak, I'll probably wait for the rental. However, I've seen the trailers - it certainly looks action-packed (ie. graphically violent) which explains why its being given an '18' rating over here, for 'strong bloody violence and gore'. What baffles me most, is that although the film reputedly strikes for authenticity it sounds all chronologically muddled up by accounts I've read, taking bits here and there from the Classical and post-Classical periods. And while the ruling Maya never saw the Europeans - here they are appearing about 500 years too early...??
