This tutorial shows how to easily create a sphere with ribs as you may find on glass globes for lighting fixtures. The tutorial is designed to show how Undo Selection command is used to speed modelling and how the tessalate command can be used in a non-standard way.

The sphere primitive used in this tutorial is fairly low-poly to help show the selections. Using a dense mesh will create a sphere with more ribs which are closer together.
