Cornelia blinked, studying the women only a few years her junior.
"My first husband was killed on the field of battle, and we had only a short time together. But we had been good friends as children," she said simply.
Cornelia turned away, took two steps towards the doors leading out onto the shared garden. Punctual though dinner had been, the light was already fading."It is unlikely I will see my father alive. It is something all Great Matrons must expect."
Porcia bit her lower lip, unsure, but also curious as to where Cornelia was going with this. A slight breeze carrying the smell of winter that spoke of how far north of Rome they were filled her longs. "So we can enjoy some common ground in that our husbands are safe...for now."
"Until Caesar......",Porcia finished, with a slight hiss....
Cocking an eyebrow Cornelia turned locked her wintery gray eyes with Porcia's stormy ones. " I would do anything to prevent that."
Dacia's tnernace prevented Cornelia for following up. " Domina...."
"I must return to dinner. Rest well. If you need me, send for me tonight," concluded and then tip tupped away.
