    Starting Scenarios

    Please choose from one of the following:

    1.  The New Man Aedile


    You are a rich Equestrian new man with a number of business interests and estates in other regions of Italia.  You have 15,000D worth of existing estates and factories within Italia. Just elected as an Aedile for the city of Rome, you are on the first rung of civil office and keen to make a name for yourself. You have a 6,000 denari gift from a supporter in your treasury for the sole purposes of games sponsorship as aedile.

    Age: 25-35
    Class: Plebeian

    Marital status: Single

    Family Reputation: 0
    Villa Urbana: 100D (Aventine)
    Current Offices: Equestrian and Aedile
    Previous Offices: None

    2.  The Blue Blood Senator


    You are the Patrician paterfamilias of a famous house fallen on hard times. No one from your branch of the family has been a Consul for generations. You will change this! You start with a 10,000D worth of prime estates in Italia-Roma and with a big Villa on the Palatine hill, as a Senator you have just been elected as Praetor in the recent elections. You have a starting family reputation of 650 points.

    Marital status: Married/Divorced, 3 children

    Current Office: Senator and Praetor of a vacant (i.e.; not currently controlled by an existing PC) province of Rome, or the courts, at the umpire's discretion.*

    3.  The Military Tribune


    As a Plebeian you have spent your life in the army and have worked through the lower ranks and have now landed the office of Laticlavian Tribune, second highest in the Legion. You have abundant experience and start with 15,000D worth of estates and factories in the provinces. You have a command rating of 10.00, 200 points in military awards and 300 in carried forward military points. One year's service and you will be eligible for your own command. IF you can get one voted you. Time to make a good impression.

    4.  The Veteran Orator

    WARNING: ADVANCED BUT LIMITED SCENARIO, FOR BUDDING CICERO'S ONLY!

    As a Patrician or Plebeian, you have been through all the regular posts of the republic, Quaestor, Praetor and Pro-Praetor and have been a Legate, though an un-memorable one.  These days as a man in your middle years you spend your time between the forum, Basilica and Senate.  Your main craft is that of advocate, your court presence is well known.  Comfortably well off, you live life as an advocate and general provider of opinions.  You have 500 extra family reputation points for your fame as an advocate and legislator.  You have 20,000D worth of estates (if patrician) or estates and factories if plebeian, throughout the Roman controlled world.

    Class: Patrician or Plebeian
    Marital status: Married/Widowed/Divorced, 3 children.
    Family Reputation: Patrician: 1000 Plebeian 500
    Villa Urbana: 500D Palatine (if Patrician)  Aventine (if Plebeian)

    4.  The Vestal Virgin

    (Female PC)

    You are a Vestal Virgin. You may not hold any civil or military office. You are 'sui juris' for business purposes and therefore may make business contracts and own property. You may make Senate and Assembly proposals through NPC clients.  You start the game as a senior vestal with 10,000 denari dowry invested in estates in Roma-Italia.  You hope to one day be elected Virgo Vestalis Maxima.

    Class: Patrician
    Marital status: You cannot marry
    Family Reputation: 500
    Religious Points: 500
    Villa Urbana: None

    NB:  None of the above scenario characters may run for either the Consulship or Censorship in their first game year. 

    All scenarios have pre-chosen estate and or factory purchases and one month worth of revenue in the bank.  

    Vestal virgins may never hold any other office.

    * Praetors are credited with a proportion of the annual provincial fund equal to the yearly amount divided by the number of months left in the current game year.
