I just watched this episode, courtesy of an English friend who videotaped it. I agree with previous comments that it is very poor indeed. Pharsalus was reasonably accurate, but the rest of it...
Caesar surprised by the Gallic reinforcements at Alesia! As though he hadn't been preparing for them all the time during the siege! Taking a year to subdue the pompeian generals in Spain! going from "flog the ringleaders" to "decimate the whole legion" during the IXth's mutiny - and worse, instead of facing the troops, he just gives orders to Mark Antony! Later, doubting Antony's loyalty and being rebuked for it by Antony himself!
When oh when will film/television producers and directors see that Caesar's actual life and actions are better entertainment than any fiction they try to come up with?
