Excavations in Conneticut have revealed "dozens" of dwellings on the side of a hill, which are deemed to date to about 7000BCE.The people are believed to have gathered roots and tubers from nearby Cedar Swamp. They lived at this locale for months on end.The presence of a fairly large semi-sedentary tribe suggests that the region may have been a core population area and not peripheral.
