I've created a new thread for this. :D All the stuff that is not strictly historical but refers to a modern appreciation of the city: travelling experiences, various references... While searching for more serious things I found Sally Oldfield's song "Ravenna" (from the album "Instincts") and it is very lovely. Pity it's not easy to find it. I could not even find the lyrics, but I'm such a geek that I tried to write them down. Enjoy the tentative result!
Sally Oldfield - Ravenna
Long wind
through the pines
So many memories
so many times
I watch through the open window
as the moon rises high above the city
reaching history and the secrets of my heart
Refrain:
I remember you
when the starlight of Ravenna
intoxicates my soul
when the night wind blows and a new voice calls tentation (?)
I can speak with you
when the starlight of Ravenna
shows me an open road
where I hear freedom calling with a voice of liberation
I remember you
Unreal worlds
echoed on the years
like the sound of silence
and the sound of tears
Where we may (?) still be open to the tide of destiny
that crushes on relentlessly to open up the way
(refrain)
Ravenna...
