I love Hermes so! Little trickster learned his arts through the seed of Zeus who slipped into Maia's bed.

He has been my patron for....whew, I can't remember but its been a number of years. Almost as long as Apollon and I have been together though the Golden Haired God has a few months or so on Hermes. They share an altar I have right were I can see it and do proper Libations.

What would be in interesting discussion here is how Hermes' role in 21st century has changed. While His trickster ways are far from over nor is He any less a smooth talker with swift set of feet taking messages; I wonder how He deals with modern theives? Violent thiefs? Corporate thievery that leaves millions w/o food, land or hope? I work in corrections in the office so I see many a bad soul whose violations range from credit card fraud & petty theft to violent take over robbers. Part of me figures their being caught then serving prison time is His punishment for those who nowadays who steal without a sense of honor. A record forever marked with your dark path walkings.

Yet, we all know Hermes has so a deeper meaning now than His first millenum beginnings. He is the founder of the Hermetic path; Watcher of travelers, commuters; Inspiration for the Quick wit, Loud talking Salespersons, and more than I can list or think of.

What do you think Hermes' modern role is and how does it play in your life?

    Food for thought...
    Thaila
