Calling all scholars here. As per Hafise's previous post (Thanks for the heads up, Hafise!) and this post in the Curia by Heraklia, we have to select one 'hood as testing ground for Jot's new 'hood codes, and the names for our large, medium and small properties, or, as Heraklia put it, "simple, middle-class, and fancy".
At least that's how your dumb Saxon understood it. :D
I understand it's not easy. Other worlds (see Curia discussion) are doing a terrific job in finding the exact names in each local language. We'd have to do that for Gothic, Old English, Frankish... Eirikr, where are you? Oh yeah, I think we're all supposed to know them by heart now. :D Or do we want to go for a more generic approach? The simplest dwelling might be "tent" or "wagon", though that might be fitting only for the nomadic period. In Ravenna we have domus and palaces just like in Rome. I'm just throwing out ideas here, I'll give it more thought... for the moment all that comes to my mind as a dwelling is "my horse's back" straight up to "King's palace"!
As for the beta testing 'hood, we've been considering Paris because we're already working on it, if Shanti (I think...) is OK with it. But overnight I've been thinking that maybe we can choose a less known 'hood, maybe Kent or Aachen (just the first ones that come to my mind) so we'd give it more exposure. What do you think?
