With Goldfest '06 coming up in October, I started thinking about a possible theme for the celebration in Rome. The Capitoline Games might be ideal. Held in honor of Jupiter, they began on October 15 and lasted 16 days. The time span would match perfectly. They also included a variety of activities that would lend themselves to the Goldfest celebration. Contestants from several nations were invited to participate in various events: athletic displays, chariot races, and competitions of oratory, music, and acting. Several curious rituals intended to ridicule the Etruscans offer another novel detail to develop. Details about the Ludi Capitolini may be found here. It's just a suggestion and may be totally out of line with what the global planning group has in mind. Anyone have thoughts one way or the other?
