and soon I am standing, holding Gorma and looking at the gory dead around the still burning fire. I watch as Drust and Oswald check the bodies, to find that two of ours are among them. That is a shame - I had hoped we could release Gorma without losing anyone.
Drust starts looking after wounds, doing a rough bandaging job that will get everyone back to the camp and the healing hands of Fedelm and Verica. Gorma looks at me, and exclaims over my wounds. She tears the bottom of her lein to make bandages, and soon I am able to make my way to the others near the fire, Gorma at my side.
I find a large skin of water and pour it over the fire, and some of the others find more and do the same. It is not safe to leave it untended, and we must head back to our camp. Soon we are on our way, Oswald bringing up the rear, taking on himself the task of protecting our rear, in case there are still some enemies hiding in the woods. I am tired, and aching - more from worry over Gorma than the battle. I am just happy that she is safe again, but I do want to know what made her wander off like that. I will try to extract a promise that she will stay with the group from now on.
