The Galla is an underwold demon. Its main objective is to bring souls - willing or otherwise - into the underworld. In one magical text, the galla are said to number seven in all. If you recall, they are the demons that escorted Inanna out of the underworld in order to find a replacement for her soul within it. She went in search of someone to take her place and finally settled on Damuzi.

But, like most Mesopotamian demons and spirits, the galla is seen as both good and evil. In Gudea's hymn, the minor god Ig-alima, is described as "the great galla of Girsu (Ningirsu)".
