This is an interesting little article on the warrior king Naresuan (1555 - 1605). Naresuan was held captive at the Burmese court at Pegu during his youth, which probably influenced much of his outlook and is thought to be where he learned military strategy and political science. He was king of Siam from 1590 until his death in 1605 and throughout his life he embarked on continuous military campaigns. During his reign Siam had the biggest territorial extent in its history. He died somewhere en route to Ava, where he was leading his troops to attack the then Burmese capital in what turned out to be his final campaign. Scholars are still debating where King Naresuan actually died: in Siam, Burma or Mon.
Warrior king remains a very modern mystery
