Cornell News Service (the new radiocarbon study was conducted by a team from Cornell University) have released a brief news article: Cornell study of ancient volcano, seeds and tree rings, suggests rewriting Late Bronze Age Mediterranean history.
The most intriguing aspect of the new dating suggestion is, as this article highlights, that trade and cultural links between Minoan Crete and the Near East may have been formed earlier than previously thought and a lot of long-held suppositions will have to be revised. Aw - that means all my reference books will be out of date now! LOL
