is not a place where everyone agrees.
Communities are made of people. This includes people with whom we do NOT agree, and who choose a different path than we do.
And that is fine, IMHO. What a dull world it would be if we all agreed or had only the same limited interests. And what a stagnant world it would be because because of the endless and repetitive conversations that are never really listened to and never acted upon.
Various sectors of the community have different needs and different foci. They can and should be able to pursue them in an environment of tolerance, both from the "higher ups" and the citizens at large.
In large part, this is already so here in Celtia... it is, of course, a neverending journey, this building of tolerance, but it is a most worthwhile one.
If people choose to get together and decide to form a group, then who is to say they shouldn't? They have their aims and purposes, and those are just as valid as the next folks'. In truth, a group becomes a community of its own, and I think this feeling and synergy between people is something to be encouraged!
Not all groups will be for all people. Some will appear unheralded because the idea has come to fruition in the creator's eyes. Some will come about as the result of discussion on the boards. Others, sadly, will die awasting.
We have an opportunity to build something wonderful here... but it will NEVER be the way a single person envisions it, nor should it be. We all need to give up our biases and realise that each and every individual of Celtia is worthy of respect -- and so are the groups they form, whether it's to our taste or not.
We are big enough and great enough in this city to have room for everyone. What we all need to practice is tolerance.
Now come on lads and lasses! Get those groups going! *S*
