Letter to PCH:
Greetings. I don't have much time, so I will make this brief. Send for King Alexander to come to Nicopolis from Dodona. Present him before the people of Nicopolis. He is to be well protected, but a delegation from Nicopolis should be allowed to see him and thus reveal the truth to the rest of the people of Nicopolis. Should they see the king, and still refuse to submit to their rightful ruler, then you may proceed to subdue Nicopolis. Remember to use both fleets to destroy the Epiran fleet and to land their marines while the legions assault the walls.
Order the Macedonian auxiliaries to Ambracia to join my forces there immediately.
Good luck and may the gods be with you.
Decimus Junius Pompeius
********************************************************************************
Quintus Manlius Lupus,
If you believe that you can position your self to the southeast of the Ambracia and bombard the city, I hereby give you permission to take Legio VI and the Epiran auxiliaries and seek to implement your plan.
My own legions will fortify their respective castras and will seek to keep the interest of the Ambracian forces focused on us. When the Macedonian force arrives, they will begin to build a circumvallation of Ambracia.
As for the forces under Commander Hibernicus, I had already decided to use them to conquer Stratus once they finished with Nicopolis and then have them sweep northward from Stratus and join our siege of Ambracia. The city is well protected and I expect a great amount of slaughter if we attempt to storm it. I prefer, having retaken the rest of Epirus, to bring Ambracia to its knees through starvation.
However, make it known that I am offering a 5000 D reward to anyone who is able to sneek into the camp of Parmenion's forces and assasinate him. Should the man who succeeds die in the attempt, I will give the money to his wife and children.
Good luck , and my Mars, Bellona, Fortuna and Jupiter smile upon our efforts to bring to heel the rebel Parmenion.
Decimus Junius Pompeius
Army Commander
