Once the bitter bile that began to rise in my chest subsided upon hearing the searing, hateful voice of the apparent Sith, I looked to Taylor. His mouth was stoic, but his eyes betrayed a small amount fear that caused my own heart to quake. He held my hand as I began to stand, and almost pulled me back down with him in a ‘protected area’. I however resisted and stood firm, or at least appeared to while my feet shook from the sense of apprehension that emanated from the dark man.
“ I take it you have a sort of rebuttal, Senator Aristides.” He stated, remarkably indifferent to the situation.
“As this is at least a type of Democracy, I expect some discussion on the matter before I perform whatever it is you feel necessary to prove.” I reply, my voice is trying to sound strong and perhaps it even did, but by his response I could tell the man read through my bravado.
“Senator, do not hide your fear of me in false courage. I can sense it. Now is not the time to die a hero, you are far too young.” His voice seemed pleased that someone would attempt to rise against him; there was more pleasure in destroying lively prey for him than passive captives.
“I do fear you, but no more than I fear the uncertain future,” I began, hoping if tested, my courage could stand on its own, and despite his dark amusement, I stood ever still, covering my fear with that mask of courage.
