...trying to get some little discussion going here again? Itīs been a while, people have been busy elsewhere, have had issues to deal with etc. But ok, letīs see what we can do! :)
First of all, this is a very intersting thread with all these good posts, Iīll see if I can get some comments on a couple of them done soon. But just now I got interested in women and weaving. Somewhere I read that it was mandatory work for women of nearly all ages and positions, to handle this, for the family needs and also, if possible, to get a bit of income.
Then somehwere else, I read that men usually weaved rougher stuff, like mats etc while women handled linen of different quality. Now that makes sense, doesnīt it, and it must of course have differed from time peripd to time period, as well as from location to location, how they regulated this. Does anyone have more details about this, it would be interesting to find out a bit more!
