was newly clipped, the gates placed here and there were able to be closed to alter the entire character of the maze. When I found the maze, it called to me. Neglected in recent years; it had been erected on a much older maze that had once common in this part of the land. There was no doubt that this foundations of the maze were in the old faith. Beran and I made our way slowly through the maze to the gazebo at the center.
There, in the close space of the gazebo, we could sit and keep the ancient traditions. Beran's memories reached back farther than mine, and we shared those memories though the night. The candles burned low and the ale slowly disapeared. The corn dolly joined the pinecone wand in a basket and they were tucked in to a quiet corner. As we spoke, slowly the fey of the estate crept out to join us and share in the joyful night.
As dawn broke, the fey drifted away and we released the wards. Beran and I, too, parted; an ageless friendship renewed.
