Asano Naganori 浅野長矩 1667-1701
Daimyo of the Ako han ( 1675-1701). His title was Takumi no Kami 内匠頭
His family was a branch of the Asano family whose main lineage was in Hiroshima
Asano Naganori was born in Edo.
His father was Asano Nagatomo Unemenosho (1643-1675). Daimyo of Ako (1671-1675)
His grandfather was Asano Naganao (1610-1672 )first daimyo of Ako (1645-1671) with 50 thousand of koku. After Asano Naganao died in 1671, Asano Nagatomo succeeded to the position but died after three years in 1675. Asano Naganori succeeded to his father at the age of nine.
He married Asano Aguri (1674-1714), later Yozeiin, second daugther of Asano Nagaharu (1614-1675) lord of Miyoshi. The Miyoshi lords was a same family of Asano Naganori.
She died at the age of 41 years old in 1714.
In 1680 he was apponted to the office of Takumi no Kami, (the head of carpentary at the imperial court), but this office was nominal as were other offices granted to samurai at that time and only had an honorific meaning.
In 1694 he was suffered by a heavy illness. Since he had no children, thus no heir at that time. When a daimyo died without a determined heir, his house would be abolished by the Shogunate. He adopted his younger brother Asano Nagahiro (1670-1734) titled Daigaku and Asano Nagahiro was admitted as his heir by the Shogunate
On the day of his death, he drew his sword and attempted to kill Kira Yoshinaka in the Corridor of the Pines at Edo Castle. He wounded, but failed to kill, Kira Yoshinaka. On the same day, the shogun,Tokugawa Tsunayohi, sentenced him to commit seppuku
He commited seppuku on March 14th in 1701. He was 35 years old.
