Gnaeus Pompeius Iunior had just dismissed Balbus when a letter arrived.

"Who's it from?" asked the young man.

"Er," said the runner, "If it's true, the Parthian court."

"What?" asked Gnaeus with a look of disbelief. He glanced quickly at the seal on the scroll handed to him -it looked real- and he snapped it. Unfurling, he read...

As he read he noticed the trooper was waiting, most likely hoping to get some morsels of news.

To tell the boys in his tent what the Parthian court had to say to their commander?! He would be famous for such news! But alas...

Gnaeus waved him off to his post outside the office.

He let the scroll go and it snapped back to a loose roll.

Armenia has attacked Parthia and requests my assistance, he thought. Now is my chance to prove myself. He began writing up orders and assignments. Within a few hours, the camp was a hectic hive of preparation.

Gnaeus was not on his way to war, but to fame. With him, he brought the legion from Pontus...

OOC: Armenia, in mid-October, had launched a large invasion of the weakened Parthian Kingdom. 25000 Armenian legionaries, 7500 Pontic Phalanx, 12500 eastern infantry, 10000 Armenian cataphracts, 10000 eastern horse archers, 5000 peltasts, 1500 archers, 1500 camel cavalry and 15000 peasant/allied infantry have descended the Taurus Mountains and entered the ASsyrian plain pushing down between the two rivers.

Taking Osrhoene, they have continued their rapid advance south. Gnaeus has currently made his way to Palmyra, and from there is marching at the double to Seleucia, hoping to meet and join the Parthian forces...
