I would have said YES to that idea a thousand times - that the art of Pompeii should be, somehow, made available to those in Pompeii, rather than having all of it removed to the Museum. YES to protect it in the Museum, but why not representations returned to the city? For once, by recreating the Pompeii mosaic and returning it to its source, the archeologists are doing everyone a wonderful favor.
I have to admit, that mosaic, one of the famous treasures of the world, would be wonderful to see in its original location!
