Well despite my wonderful clue (glomus) in Latin you've got it. Mind you things could get even more 'interesting' if I start to mix up my Polish and Latin declensions! The Dacian 'draco' banner, was a hollow metal wolf's head mounted on a spear with a sort of windsock attached, said to represent the body of a serpent, hence the arrangement is sometimes described as a dragon banner. The effect of air or wind rushing through it has been at different times described as ranging from a disturbing hissing sound, through to the actual howling of wolves. Similar banners were afterwards adopted by some units of the Roman army. So apparently its over to you Sirius
