Oriah, I looked through my resources and didn't find anything regarding water or offering it to wash the feet. That's not to say that it didn't happen. I'm still looking for an answer.

That said, I wonder if this tradition could not somehow be related to the acceptance of Christianity in Celtic areas.

Anyone else have any ideas or more knowledge than I do?
