First I want to thank AW and everyone who worked so hard to put this site back together I am so happy to see it back. It has been wonderful to see many old friends and have the opportunity to make new ones. I am thrilled we have this site to exchange information on things historical once again.
Now on to my question, I have heard many times that there was a tradition of offering water for foot washing to guests. Is this true? If so, what is the root of this tradition?
