Many times since ROME began on TV, I've found myself convinced that Atia's character was actually modeled in some way on that of Clodia, particularly as portrayed by Cicero in the murder trial. Servilia, on the other hand (after the complete dishing as a human being she got by Colleen McCullough's series) came out only SLIGHTLY monstrous. So I'd say they did a Clodia-meets-Agrippina-the-Younger on poor Atia for the series just to show that this kind of 'fury woman' existed. However, it's pretty sexist, when you consider how threatened Roman men and writers were about ANY woman who said more than "yes, dear!"
