Having heard Joseph’s proposal about Father Donovan, I stride hard to the town hall to give my truth and a piece of my mind.

“I THOUGHT WE WERE GOING TO BUILD A NEW LIFE AND WORLD HERE! Then the first thing we do is seat the damn church in a position of authority over us? What are we? IDIOTS!?!? We just got through paying a terrible price to get free of tyranny and now you want to re-enthrone its religion!

YAH! I know. The tyranny was the Cap’ns, not Father Donovans. Father Donovan was tyrannized too. I see that! He was done worse than any one else of us, BUT…both men were a part of what was wrong with the world we are supposed to be trying to leave behind!

Father Donovan is the church’s servant, he has been trained and dedicated to doing its bidding. It has bid him to stamp out the existance, truths and knowledge of my kind. To eradicate us from the face of the Earth. Don’t you understand what a disservice to Humanity this would be, if it succeeds? It is because of us natural healers and servants of Humanity that medicine has made the progress it has. This progress will stop without us. It will slide back into the darkness of “blood letting” without our understanding and care.

If this is not true then let Father Donovan step forward and tell me to my face, that this is not true. And then let him live the proof of his words. If he could demonstrate to my satisfaction that only his own heart and mind rule him and that the church could not make him harm us, then I will change my vote to yes.

Otherwise, if he gets into power, I will get the hell outa here! I will go far away and away from your insanity! I will not hang a round and be a target for the hateful policies of the church!

That’s all I have to say at this time.”

I stand and wait to see what agreement or argument comes my way.
