Chief Powhattan brought together the tribes of the Eastern seaboard from what is now North of Florida to Southern NY into the Powhattan nation. He was a political genius, and a great leader. I'm still researching this, but it appears that the Iriqouis Confederacy and our own Constitution are largely based on his ideas.
