Hmmm, maybe I should add Octavia to my list of Roman women on my web site, because I'm finding practically nothing about her online, and my OCD is home and inaccessible.
We don't even know when she was born! but the accepted wisdom is, born in 69 (thus, 5 plus years older than her 'little brother" Augustus). The series technically starts in 52 BC, when she would have been 17. Yes, the first husband on record is Marcellus, who was old enough to marry Augustus' daughter, Julia, in the '20's, but there are still at least several years unaccounted for. The son, Marcellus, was allegedly born in 42 BC, when Octavia was 27, so who knows what she was up to for that long ten years?
I'm not saying Glabrio is anything mroe than a fiction, but actually, it IS odd that, if Marcellus was her first husband, she waited so very long for Augustus to arrange it.
I suspect that they figured that a Roman maiden of 17 was bound to be married to SOMEONE, hence the (fictitious - I think) Glabrio.
