Well done all - the last three month's discussion of Meier's 'Caesar' has been fruitful in ways that I would not have thought possible when I instigated the Literary Circle.
It seems we could centre discussions on this tome virtually forever!! Nonetheless, as Leader of the Circle, I know that it is time for us to move on.
The next volume we will be dissecting together will provide a different challenge. In many ways a simpler work (it is certainly shorter & will take us no longer than Christmas to read together), it is yet, in the opinion of many, one of the most significant sub-classical works in the history of the English language...
By next Tuesday (Dec 3), I want all Circle club members to possess a copy of Kenneth Grahame's 'The Wind In The Willows', to have read the first chapter, and to have outlined some preliminary notes sketching their ideas of the main characters and where they think Grahame is taking us in this work.
We can then use our Thread here to exchange ideas, and I as Circle leader will arrange a live online discussion forum.
The work, being OOP, is freely available on the Net, but I would suggest that Club members purchase a hard copy as it is likely that we will at some date be discussing the relationship between the original illustrations and sub-classicism Grahame is promulgating through his creation.
Any questions, simply message me at my Domus, ok?
Pet Luc
