I finally got around to watching "Alexander" and I admit I was disappointed. I'm a big fan of historical epics but this one just couldn't hold my interest and I had to force myself to follow the storyline.

I can suspend disbelief during a movie as much as the next person, but I found it difficult to accept Val Kilmer and Angelina Jolie as Colin Ferrell's parents when all those actors are about the same age. No attempt was made to age Val and Angelina at all. Come on, Mr. Director. Let's be somewhat realistic.

On a positive note, I found the computer generated representation of Babylon quite stunning.

I have a question for any Alexander experts out there -- what was the purpose of the little trick he did during the battle with Darius of Persia in which he rode parallel to the line of battle for what seemed like miles before turning and striking? I didn't get it.
