Welcome
Pax Inter Pares
Peace Between Equals. Caesar has crossed the Rubicon, but Civil War did not erupt. Caesar and Pompey stand together against the Republicans. In this alternative Rome, who will come out ahead? Or will anyone? You decide.

Ad Cae. IIII [from Rome, October CIIVI]

    Matius to Caesar, greetings!

Of course you can marry on your return. Matia and her mother have been busy with the arrangements, and you'll have a big party as befits your station - and hers. They only talk of dresses, flowers, menus, music and musicians, guests and invitations. Your office was a great help in sending invitations, by the way. What? You think I just sit and pay? You know me well, that's what I do - mostly.

So Pompey is back! You must tell me how he is as soon as you see him. A number of Exiles have returned to Rome in the past few days; they say more are coming. Unfortunately they are not returning to a stable situation, which would be desirable for them to settle down quietly and even make themselves useful.

I'm refering to the pamphlets which keep appearing out of... somebody's pen. Will you allow them to continue? But of this later, when you come back.

Be well, and my friend always.

    Matius
