The Egyptian army under the command of Publius Atius Varus arrived 5 miles (what the hell are KM's? asks the confused officers) east of the river, near the border with Egypt.
There are no signs of enemy at the river crossing or on the army's march.
the officers report that despite their best efforts to train the Egyptians to fight and behave like Romans, this is proving extremely difficult, there are simply too few Roman officers to do it and the Egyptians aren't interested in learning, especially the conscript slave part of the army.
Forward scouts see no notable enemy presence in the region of Darnis. So far they have not encountered signs of the plague.
