Like others, I find the question of what Calpurnia was like to be an interesting one. And I'm open to a wide variety of fictional portrayals.
The one thing that does get me, though, and HBO' Rome is, I think, falling into it -- why do they make her so old?
We've discussed this before. She was not, as far as we know, married before Caesar. There was no scuttlebutt about her being an "0ld maid" on marrying. She should have been the 'typical' age for a marrying maiden: somewhere between 14 - 18. Which means she should be in her twenties at the time of "Rome." Much closer to Octavia than to Atia. She could still be a prissy statue, but a young one. I think it would have been interesting to make her young, beautiful, and totally locked into the traditional wifey role.
