I finally got to see episode one. One of my co-workers was sent the DVD by his digital company :). I thoroughly enjoyed it and when it reached it's end I thought 'Is that it? Isn't there any more?' That being said and despite efforts to will my mind into a place of enjoying the show and not making trying to look for historical bloopers, it did bother me that the senate was portrayed as being full of very old men, with the odd exception of Cicero who I've always envisioned as always being old no matter what his age. Cato looked like he'd rejoined the senate after years in retirement when in reality wasn't he about the same age as Caesar who, correct me if I'm wrong, was in his late forties at this time? I don't know why this bothered me so much, but it did. Considering that Rome often sent it's senators off to do battle on foreign soil you'd hope they'd have younger men available than what we say in episode one.
