Wasn't sure if I should post this under movies or t.v., so I went with t.v. because I figured it was really for the fans of the series.

I just broke down and read the book for Serenity. Also read the companion that Joss put out himself. Don't get your hopes up. In fact, be prepared to be disappointed. In my opinion it is not Firefly quality material.

Sad thing is, it looks as if it is a great movie, if it wasn't based on Firefly.

The crew members are out-of-character for them too much for my liking. I have watched the DVD at least two dozen times. So I had certain expectations of the characters' reactions and interaction with eachother and it just wasn't there.

It doesn't seem to have that light-hearted mixed with serious drama quality that the series had.

Maybe I'm just not imaginative enough to really see the Firefly-ness of it all. I am hoping that it is the actors that really make the story-lines work. But I'm not holding my breath.
