All he could see was nothing.
He could hear nothing.
Taste and smell nothing.
Feel nothing.
He could not remember his name.
How long had it been like this? And then out of the darkness came a speck of light. That speck of light turned into a shape. That shape became a crown. The crown of a Roman King... despite not remembering his own name the idea of a Roman King thoroughly disgusted him
Now he saw two groups of men fighting over the crown. One group was full of nobodies and no names. No one he recognised except their leader... he could not place a name to the face but he was famous throughout the world as a great leader.
The other group was led by an older man, flanked by two younger men. They all looked similar. Probably related somehow.
This struggle continued for seemed like days. He still could not put any names to those he saw and then suddenly the image faded and the darkness returned.
It was darker than before and he remembered nothing of the image that had sickened him so much.
In the house in Xanthos, Pompeius Magnus did not twitch from his unnatural sleep
