What sounds like an interesting series on Roman Engineering starts on the History International Channel tomorrow - done in conjunction with the HBO Rome series.

On hearing the bit about Pompey and Caesar being "co-consuls", I was prepared to get upset with the whole series, but then realized it was a fictional method to short-cut having to explain the whole tri/du-umverate power struggle. To do it accurately would have taken a whole bunch of talking heads far longer and turned off the potential audience.
I haven't yet seen any of the charm that Caesar apparently had, but Octavian (sic) is certainly an interesting portrayal.
