After dismissing Erzsebet for the night, I walk over to the wide windows that overlook the forests for Drakesheath. I clasp my hands behind my back, and watch the rain lash itself against the glass. The rhythm of the rain relaxes me, as it always does, and I glory in the unchecked power nature is displaying this evening.
As I stare out into the darkness outside, I begin to contimplate the darkness inside. The full moon should appear in two night's time. I will have time to set up my first experiments. Ever since my Oxford days, I have had memory-less nights. It took me a year before I realized they only occurred during the full moon. The worse thing about them is the state of my clothes and the grime and flesh stuck under my nails. I shudder. It is time to learn more about this strange sort of dementia that has me in its grasp. I worry that it will soon overtake me all the time and my mind will leave me completely as Desmond's did.
