Brutus knew this confrontation had been only JUST abated, but he was amazed at the strength displayed by Porcia. It was similar to a decisive strength her father had; indeed her voice as it sternly chided Sextus Pompey was almost identical to the voice that Cato had used in similar situations. Brutus was still offended at Sextus’ outburst, and some of the harsh things he had said. Porcia bowed her head politely at Sextus Pompey and said,
“Thank you for stopping me. I was being selfish toward my own struggle. I had never taken into consideration what dishonor I would do to your father.” Brutus was still loath to apologize and despite the fact all eyes were now on him, Brutus hesitated.
“ I am sorry for accusing you of harming Porcia, and I must thank you, quite selfishly, for saving her from certain death.” He watched Sextus carefully.
