Even at full speed, Domitius and his cavalry could not keep up with Sextus. He had virtually run his horse into the ground by the time he entered Xanthos. Interrogating anyone he came across, the young Pompeian eventually found out where his father was being kept.

Thundering into the courtyard, Sextus stood on no ceremony from the owners or the doctors, bullied his way into the house.

"Where is my father being kept?"

"The largest room on the second floor, general."

Sextus almost sprinted, knocking past anyone who tried to get in his way. The host shouted after him

"There is already someone in looking over him."

Sextus did not care. Bursting into the room, Sextus saw a familiar face sleeping in a chair near his father's prone and lifeless body. It was Brutus

"What in the name of Hades is he doing here?" he thought

Then he became aware that there was another figure in the room. Well just about in the room. A female figure stood on the window sill. It was the lady Porcia. The woman his father had gone to Rhodes to save from pirates and now she was going to make that sacrifice worthless by jumping out of the window?

Before he knew what he was doing Sextus was sprinting across the room and just as Porcia began to fall forwards, he caught hold of her clothing and pulled her back into the room.

"My father is at the Gates of Hades and yet you would make his sacrifice for nothing just to ease your guilty conscience?"
